| Description: |
Kawartha Conservation is seeking proposals from qualified engineering firms to undertake a road study and develop a cost-effective rehabilitation design for the primary access road into Ken Reid Conservation Area. The successful proponent will work closely with Kawartha Conservation staff to assess existing road conditions and develop a long-term solution that addresses ongoing challenges, including drainage deficiencies, surface deterioration, winter maintenance impacts, and sediment runoff into adjacent natural features. The study area includes approximately 1.5 km of roadway extending from the entrance at Kenrei Road to the Lakeview parking lot. As a Conservation Authority, Kawartha Conservation is committed to implementing sustainable and resilient infrastructure. Proposed solutions should consider opportunities to incorporate features such as improved drainage, bioswales, and other environmentally responsible design strategies that minimize impacts to surrounding natural systems. Through this project, Kawartha Conservation aims to enhance visitor access, improve user experience, and protect the ecological integrity of the site while reducing long-term maintenance requirements. This Request for Proposal closes on April 22, 2026 at 4:00 pm. Kawartha Conservation intends to notify the preferred proponent by May 4, 2026. Should Board approval be required, a recommendation for award will be brought forward to the May 28, 2026 Board of Directors meeting. Following approval, it is anticipated that a contract will be executed immediately. Work is expected to commence shortly thereafter, with a preferred completion date of August 4, 2026. Proponents may propose alternative timelines where justified. |
